HEALTHCARE: Do you need it?

As ballots hit Oregon's voters this month, we all must think about our future. In the United States, there are more than 47 million people without health insurance. Many of these Americans work every day, and they still cannot afford coverage for themselves and/or their children. Our retirees who have labored throughout their lives have inadequate, if any coverage.

At the bargaining table, many of us have been forced to sacrifice wage increases in exchange for health care. Is there an end in sight? Yes, if you make it happen! Elect legislators who believe that it is time for a change. Your vote can help cap skyrocketing costs; fix a broken health care system; and ensure that high-quality health care is available.

For more information on this important issue, visit www.aflcio.org/healthcare before you vote. Your vote counts, and Americans are counting on you to help change the status quo.(Posted 05/7/08)
